Electric Vehicle Battery Re-use

View Calendar

Experts predict that by 2018 used EV batteries could provide stationary energy storage for as little as $49 per usable kilowatt-hour compared to average stationary battery prices of around $300 Kwh (August 2016 data). Join Nuvation Energy and ESA to explore an engineering case study in re-purposing used EV batteries for stationary energy storage. Nuvation will share their experience tearing down a Nissan Leaf battery pack and integrating the used cells into a custom-designed 24kWh 360VDC energy storage system for demand charge management. Attendees will be provided with a detailed walk-through of the project that includes pictures of the EV battery pack tear-down, custom battery rack and stack switchgear design and assembly, and the integration of an off the shelf battery management system, power conversion system, and user control interface. The webinar will be followed by a Q&A session with Nuvation Energy CEO Michael Worry who will answer ESS engineering design and industry-related questions.
